Western Paper Team Cooks Up Some Community Service With Food Bank of the Rockies

Ten Western Paper team members came out to the Food Bank of the Rockies headquarters in urban Denver on the morning of their normal work day to roll up their sleeves and serve the local community! Once again, Western Paper partnered with Food Bank of the Rockies, this time to assemble an amazing 1,195 meals that will be distributed through the Kids Cafe. The Food for Kids program prepares and distributes over 66,000 meals and 3,900 after school snacks for children every month! Additionally, meals are distributed to over 90 after school meal sites throughout the year.

The group of team members came from a diverse range of internal departments, ranging from sales and talent to order entry, finance and credit/collections. According to Western Paper talent specialist Melanie Devan, “I loved getting to work with team members from different departments—especially sales, since I don’t get to interact with them much on a typical work day. Coming together and preparing 1,195 fresh meals was no small task, but we did it with a lot of laughs!”

Many times in the past, Western Paper team members have assembled boxes with food as part of Food Bank of the Rockies’ Mobile Pantry program. This time around, our crew moved into the kitchen for an even more personal hand’s on service experience! As always, working with Food Bank of the Rockies is a great way to help eliminate food insecurity among children in our local community, and we feel blessed to be able to give back and support our neighbors in need.
